The concept of folk art is proposed relative to the art of aristocrats, courts and literati.Sometimes, it is a synonym of local art.It refers to various artistic styles circulating in the folk. These artistic styles are created, designed and used by the people themselves, and they are the crystallization of collective wisdom and talent. The objects and categories of folk art research can be said to be all-encompassing, from urban architecture, sculpture, transportation, production tools, to clothes, shoes, hats and jewelry. The variety of Chinese folk art is extremely rich, it can be roughly divided into folk painting, folk sculpture, folk architecture, folk music and dance, folk arts and crafts and other major categories. Among these categories, people are familiar with folk paper cutting, folk painting, folk sculpture, folk embroidery, folk printing and dyeing, folk costumes, folk opera and dance props, folk furniture, folk utensils, folk architecture, folk toys, etc.
Folk art is a very practical art. It is closely related to folk culture, folk customs and folk religious beliefs. It is the epitome of traditional culture.
