Course description

Sociology& Cultural Anthropology is the basic method theory of design research for user research and design culture. By means of lecture and tutorial, this course aims to teach students how to use anthropological theories and analysis methodologies on optimizing and designing products,services and systems through classroom teaching and seminars, and to help them to understand the humanity, design values, cross cultures, social structures on an underlying level. Further, by means of case studies and design practices on co-design/participant design, design on ingenious knowledge system, etc. this course will help students transform intangible theories into tangible experiences,so that they can contribute their knowledge to the sustainable development of regional culture and economy in the future.Cultural anthropology is to study the origins, directors, changes and golden processes of human culture from the aspects of material production, social structure, crowd organization, customs, religious beliefs, etc., and compare various nationalities, tribes, and countries. The similarities and differences between the cultures of various regions and societies are used to discover the universality of culture and individual cultural patterns, thus summarizing the general laws and special laws of social development.
