Tan Hao


Tan Hao, Ph.D., professor, doctoral tutor. Born in December 1977, graduated from Hunan University in December 2006 with a Ph.D.  From January 2007 to January 2008, he worked as an interaction designer at Alibaba (China) Network Technology Co., Ltd. From January 2008 to February 2009, he was a researcher at the Google China Engineering Research Institute. He started working at Hunan University in March 2009. Now he is the deputy dean of the School of Design`, director of the ergonomics and interactive experience laboratory, and a researcher at the State Key Laboratory of Advanced Design and Manufacturing of Automotive Body. His research interests include big data and intelligent design, interaction and experience design, user research, and research fields based on the Internet and artificial intelligence, and also applied to communications, automotive, software, home appliances, clothing and other industries.

Work Experience

Before entering Hunan University, Dr. Tan Hao worked in design research, interaction design and user research at Alibaba (China) Network Technology Co., Ltd. and Google China Engineering Research Institute successively.

From January 2007 to January 2008, he worked as an interaction designer and design research director at Alibaba (China) Network Technology Co., Ltd. During the period,he established a professional user experience research team and its user experience design and research process and system. Developed Alibaba's interface design and design guide and role library, built an Alibaba user experience expert evaluation system across the business sector, and established Alibaba User Experience Lab, which has contributed to the professionalism and systematization of Alibaba's user experience department. Hosting the Alibaba China Station homepage revision, corporate retail upgrade project, Alibaba Star Field research and other large-scale design research projects, played an important and positive role in the success of the above products.

From January 2008 to February 2009, he was a researcher at the Google China Engineering Research Institute and was responsible for managing the Google Beijing User Experience Lab. During his time at Google, the Rolling Study system for rapid user experience evaluation was developed by him, which greatly improved the efficiency of user experience testing. Hosting user experience research for several international and global products, among which Google Music has achieved great success as the world's first genuine music product.
