1st. International Seminar on Design, Ergonomics and New Technologies Applied to Emotion Recognition

Affective computing, as a dynamic, multi-modal, multi-sensory emotional cognitive mechanism research method, aims to collect the visual, auditory, physiological responses and other information generated by the emotions of the user through various modes of sensors, and analyze the emotional characteristics. Process and identify to understand people's feelings and make smart and friendly responses. In the context of product virtual experience and Ergonomics, this technology determines the optimization process and method of user experience design, determines the efficiency and innovation of virtual reality system design, and is a research problem with practical significance in innovative design.

Since the first year of VR, with the advancement of various sensing technologies, how to use multi-modal sensing technologies such as EEG, peripheral physiological power, and infrared thermal imaging through research methods of psychology, cognitive science, and machine learning to perceive and measure the emotional feelings of users in the product interaction experience, enrich and improve the multi-dimensional evaluation knowledge model, realize the “active assistance” to design innovation, and seek to form research results that have practical guiding significance for system design and optimization is the most challenging topic in VR user experience research.

In this context, our school plans to hold the First International Seminar on Design, Ergonomics and New Technologies Applied to Emotion Recognition in the Peach Lake Conference Hall on November 11th (Sunday). The conference is organized by Marcelo Soares, a professor of cultural and artistic talents project expert of the “National Thousand Talents Program” of our institute. And invites Professor Tareq Ahram from the School of Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Central Florida, Professor Francisco Rebelo, Director of the ergonomics Virtual Reality Laboratory at the University of Lisbon, Portugal, Professor Silvia Laurentio, Director of the Applied Neurology Laboratory, Federal University of Pernambuco, Brazil, and the Federation of Vals Professor Marcio Marcal and other scholars focus on “Emotional Behavior and Electrophysiology in Ergonomics, “Designing User Experience in Products and Services in the Context of Neuroscience”, “Infrared Thermography and Emotional Research in Ergonomics” and other frontier topics such as “behavior and emotional response in VR context”.

The conference was funded by the Hunan Provincial Key Research and Development Program International and Regional Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Key Research and Development Project “Multi-modal Physiological Signal Emotion Recognition Research for Product Virtual Experience” (2018WK2032). After the meeting, experts from various countries will conduct a three-day seminar on the core technology of the project. The project aims to make full use of cross-domain methods and technologies such as artificial intelligence, psychology and neuroscience, to bring into play the disciplinary advantages of the integration of culture and technology in our institute, and to build representative products and typical users of advantageous industries such as cultural creativity and intelligent design. Also it aims to build a virtual reality product experience research platform, study the emotional-physiological mechanism of users in product virtual interaction, establish an accurate and efficient emotion recognition model and design innovation closed loop, thus enrich and improve the multi-dimensional expert review knowledge system, act on the innovation process of product design and provide an effective complement to traditional industrial design review.

No registration is required for this meeting. Solve your own food and shelter. All the brothers and universities are welcome to visit and participate in the seminar.
