James Gordon Budd教授,美国佐治亚理工学院教授,曾任佐治亚理工工业设计系主任,智能交互产品实验室主任。在过去20年间,曾任教于加拿大西蒙弗雷泽大学、卡莱顿大学、美国伊利诺伊大学香槟分校等。他开创的智能产品、传感与物联网技术的跨学科教学体系成为该领域全球开创性的学术成果,荣获美国工业设计师协会(IDSA)年度特别奖,并被美国加州大学伯克利分校、弗吉尼亚理工、韩国科学技术院、华南理工大学等引进。其主持的加拿大国家科研委员会“基于数据智能与人机交互的博物馆虚拟体验项目”是该领域第一个突破性的落地应用,取得了优秀的示范意义和社会效益。James Budd教授在任佐治亚理工工业设计系主任期间与我院智能产品设计方向进行了科研合作和人员交流,双方在国家留学基金委资助下共为湖南大学联合培养了博士4名和访问学者3人。目前已毕业的博士、博士后和青年教师组成了我院在智能产品服务系统领域的核心科研骨干团队。
Professor James Gordon Budd is a professor at Georgia Institute of Technology. He was the director of the Department of Industrial Design and the Director of the Intelligent Interactive Products Laboratory at Georgia Tech. For the past 20 years, he has taught at Simon Fraser University, Carleton University, and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His interdisciplinary teaching system of intelligent products, sensing and Internet of Things technology has become a global pioneering academic achievement in this field, winning the Annual Special Award of the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) and being introduced by the University of California at Berkeley, Virginia Tech, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology and South China University of Technology. The “Virtual Museum Experience Based on Data Intelligence and Human-computer Interaction Project" sponsored by The National Research Council of Canada was the first ground-breaking application in this field and has achieved excellent demonstration significance and social benefits. During his tenure as director of the Department of Industrial Design at Georgia Tech, Professor James Budd conducted scientific research cooperation and personnel exchange within the direction of intelligent product design with our school. With the funding from China Scholarship Council, the two sides jointly trained 4 doctoral students and 3 visiting scholars for Hunan University. At present, the doctoral students, postdocs and young teachers who have joined the cooperation have formed the core research team in the field of intelligent product service system of our school.
