Course Introduction

Smart cities and eco-design is a selected course in Industrial Design. Its prerequisites include Integrated design practice and Data mining and visualization. It provides a base from which the later courses, such as Internet plus design and Stone project design can be studied.      

This course focuses mainly on the transfer from industrial design to eco-design, sustainable design of smart cities and flexible cities. Students will learn the basic concepts and framework of smart cities and flexible cities. They will understand the requirements of the transfer from industrial design to eco-design in various viewpoints. Based on the above understanding, students will be successfully involved in sustainable eco-design of smart cities by taking advantage of knowledge of different disciplines.

With taking this course, students will acquire the fundamental knowledge of sustainable design of smart cities and flexible cities. They will demonstrate the ability to analyze and tackle problems in relevant fields. Their presentation and cooperation ability will be enhanced. In addition, their creativity will be improved.
