Course Introduction

In the process of globalization and development with Chinese characteristics, we are faced with complex problems such as climate, environment, energy, the gap between the rich and the poor, conflicts and crises of cultural identity, as well as social needs such as education and health care, security, well-being, diversification and sharing. We need a design-technology-service system to support the sustainable development of ecology, economy, society and culture. It is necessary to cultivate inter-disciplinary talents with comprehensive abilities such as system design, critical thinking, participatory design, collaborative design and transformation design to support the balanced development of culture and industry in the process of regional revitalization. In view of the above objectives, the course focuses on social innovation based on cultural research and design participation and the diversified Chinese rural cultural values in different regional cultural contexts. Guided by the learning, inheritance and innovation of cultural resources, students are attracted to the grass-roots level with diversified regional culture. In view of China's "insufficient and unbalanced" problems such as "Targeted Poverty Alleviation and Rural Revitalization", take "cultural connotation - Design reconstruction - Artistic Reproduction" as the path, train students' comprehensive collaborative innovation ability to discover, understand and solve social problems through theoretical teaching and field practice, and support the balanced development of culture and industry in the process of regional revitalization, enhance the cultural influence and industrial output capacity of traditional culture for “The Belt and Road Initiative”.
