Course Introduction
Targeting on the senior undergraduates majored in industrial design and product design, this course will progressively introduce the basis of mathematical statistics that related to industrial design and interaction design, such as descriptive analysis, inferential analysis, parameter estimation, hypothesis testing, analysis of variance, regression analysis and etc. This course will also include some knowledge of pattern recognition and machine learning. This course aims to help students to understand, distinguish important concepts in statistics analysis and data mining, mastering basic theories and methods of statistics and statistical metrics computing, as well as analyzing the data analysis cases related to user experience design, ergonomics and usability analysis by SPSS, which is essential to their research and practice in the field of industrial and interaction design. Various approaches are employed in this course including lecturing, demonstrating, discussion, design practice, and commenting.
