Course Introduction

The Design Studio 1 is an advanced required course for the junior of the Industrial Design major. It is a project-based course and will be taught in separated project groups by multiple teachers collaboratively. The course will provide students 6 project topics which are related to their future career development in Industrial Design, i.e.: Intelligent Equipment, Smart Mobility, Smart Healthcare, Data Intelligence and Service Design, Sustainability and Ecology Design, Digital Culture and Innovation. Each project will be backed up by either research program or business design project, and invite experts such as technology specialists, industrial experts, and enterprise representatives to the lecture or design critic sessions. At the end of the course, a finial work show will be arranged to exhibit the design outputs of students. In this course, students can choose his/her favorite project topic based on their personal interests and participate the corresponding project group. Under the supervision and instruction of teachers, students will experience a standard “double-diamond” design process, master varient design methods and tools, and develop his/her expertise in the topic design field as well as the capability of discovering, defining, developing, and delivering prepared for the graduation project and future design research and practice.
