On July 2, 2018, the students of Dong Nationality brocade class of the National Art Foundation's 2017 Art Talents Training Project”Daxiangxi Minority Brocade Embroidery Crafts Innovative Talents Training”went to Yatunbao Town,Tongdao County,Hunan Province with rich intangible cultural heritage and conducted a 22-day exchange and creation.During the period, the national intangible cultural heritage, Dong Nationality brocade weaving technology inheritor, Mr. Su Tianmei conducted on-site teaching, Professor Ji Tie of School of Design,Hunan University and special expert Yang Miao teacher gave lectures to the students.
In the form of a report, Mr. Ji Tie introduced the background, introduction, goals, team and working methods of the new channel design and social innovation project, as well as the exploration of community research and social innovation practice.The content mainly includes the definition of social needs and the interdisciplinary research activities organized by design. Finally, it introduces the knowledge organization of community research and social innovation, and forms a knowledge organization system by classifying and sorting related first-level and second-level disciplines.

Teacher Yang Miao led the students to visit the exhibition hall of Wuling Mountain Non-legacy creation center in Huaihua City.She detailed the R&D experience of the “Suo Shou”brand's products,linen scarves and handbags,sharing the story between brands and stakeholders.“Suo Shuo”as a local industry for sustainable development, it has given Dong Nationality brocade a new life and used traditional techniques to create new products that conform to the trend of the times.

Mr. Su Tianmei is the party branch secretary of Wenpo Village, the representative inheritor of the national intangible cultural heritage project, and the representative of the 19th Party Congress.She introduced Dong Nationality brocade weaving tools to the students, showed more than ten procedures in the weaving process of Dong Nationality brocade through video, and personally led the students to visit Fengxiang Village to learn about its construction and cultural development history.The most representative ones are the Village door and the stone roads with Dong Nationality brocade pattern. They are the wisdom of the collective creation of the villagers. The public welfare stone erected in front of the Village door engraved the name of the donor.

In order to experience the local folk customs, the project team organized Dong Nationality brocade class participants to visit and investigate a number of local places, and watch the “June 6th” cultural performance show in Wenpo Village.
