(Iran University of Science and Technology)、设拉子大学(Shiraz University)、印度最顶级学府印度理工学院(Indian Institute of Technology)进行长沙窑研究学术合作,并将在7月5日-10日期间在中国举行一系列的学术活动。
This email address is being protected from spambots.

Topic 2: Ceramic Design on the Basis of Iranian Motifs

This proposed workshop will be held by the three Iranian experts participated in the event 2015, New Silk Road Program, including Prof. S. Javad Zafarmand, Prof. Mohammad Abai and Prof. Majid-Reza Moghanipour. The workshop consists of three main stages as follows.
The first stage is allocated for introducing the Iranian motif categories designated for the workshop and some primary lessons/instructions and the technical guidelines in terms of Iranian motifs and ceramic design. The three categories of Iranian motifs considered for this workshop are: Geometric that is very particular and especial Iranian one; Abstract and Plantal, which are the most similar ones to the Chinese culture. To create the Abstract motifs, some effective methods about different kinds of rhythm and incomplete-symmetry will be introduced. In this stage, some basic points about product subjective sustainability and aesthetic durability, as the theme of author’s special interest and professional study, will be also presented in respect to the ceramics. As the ceramics are among the crafts or the extremely long-lived products, the above mentioned points are very important for extending this kind of product’s psychological lifetime to be in harmony with their actual lifetime.
Within the second stage, the participants will be guided to design three types of motifs inspired from the Iranian motifs introduced in the last stage for a ceramic product on the paper or the other means. Then, they will be instructed to suggest the appropriate colors for their designed motifs. Our suggested ceramic product is plate which is simple and popular.
The third stage will also consist of two main steps. First, the completed design will be transformed on the kilned raw plate, if such an object could be provided. And second, the design will be painted or colored with the glazing material. Eventually, the participants’ works will be compared and evaluated from aesthetic and cultural identity points of view.

Welcome!
